Happy birthday, Mark and Bill!

On Thursday, Mark turned 5!  He is such an amazing blessing to us.  He is intelligent, fun, a fantastic big brother, and we love him so much!

We went to dinner with my parents at a hibachi restaurant that Mark likes.  This is his third birthday in a row to pick this one.

Mark loves ice cream, and the staff sang happy birthday.

After dinner, we went home and opened presents.  While he got various things he liked, LEGOs were definitely the highlight!

It is really hard for me to believe he is already 5!  It seems like yesterday we were taking our first picture with him.  It was such a fantastic day when he was born, and it just keeps getting better.

Bill's birthday was on Friday, and he was off for the day.  He is an amazing husband and awesome father, and we wanted to celebrate!  We rode the trolley to a pizza restaurant for lunch.  The kids love the trolley, and I especially love that it is free.  :)

My birthday boys!

The restaurant brought dough balls for the kids to play with while we waited for our food.  Mark made his into a mask.

After lunch, we walked around by the waterway for a little while before taking the trolley back.  The kids love seeing the ducks and fish.

Bill and I got to go to Mark's school on Thursday to celebrate with his class.  He is really into dinosaurs right now, so I packed a dinosaur lunch with dino shaped sandwiches, dino eggs (grapes), and dino bones (pretzel sticks).  The treat he picked to share with his class was dino shaped rice krispy treats with mini m&ms for the eyes.

His party is this afternoon, and he is super excited!  We are continuing with our dino theme, and I will post pictures soon.

The Symphony and Fishing

We took the kids to their first symphony this week!

The Houston Symphony performs in our local area and the lawn seats are free. This performance was "The Art of Baseball" which made it even more fun. Prior to the concert, there were games, activities, an instrument petty zoo, etc. They loved it!

When we left, we saw 2 mounted patrol officers and got to pet the horses. One even had a card with info about the officer and horse. The kids have been asking when we can go to the symphony again!

We went fishing at the pond near our house last night.  The kids had a blast!  All six of them got to catch a fish which I think makes for a pretty successful trip!

Mark

Becca caught the first fish!

 Everyone with the fish.

Becca in a new outfit...  She rode her bike right off the path into the water!  Tipped the bike and she was soaked!  And I think a little surprised.  :)  But she went right back to fishing.

I didn't get a picture of David with his fish.  He really liked being in charge of the worms.  While everyone would get one out for Bill or me to put on the hook, he carried the container around almost the whole time and would help everyone pick which one would be best for catching fish.

We had so much fun, and the kids are anxious to go again!

This is just a random picture.  We rode bikes to a new park this week, and it had TONS of rolly pollies!  The kids declared it to be rolly polly city, and they spent almost the whole time finding them and trying to get them to roll into balls.

Bikes, Kindergarten, and Fun!

Mark has had a bike for awhile, but recently my parents gave our quints their first big kid bikes.  The kids were SOOO excited!  Thank you Papa and G.G.!!

Ready to go!!

We practiced riding around a cul-de-sac.

After a few days, we were doing well enough going and stopping that we were ready to ride to the park!

I feel comfortable doing almost anything by myself with the kids, but I have been really nervous about taking them all for a bike ride.  They did great!  Everyone listened well and stayed together.  I think we will be riding a lot this summer!

I loved this picture of David.  Holding a big stick in one hand and a rolly polly in the other.  Total boy!  :)

Recently, I registered Mark for kindergarten.  That seems so hard to believe!  While I am not totally ready for that, he is so excited!

The school where he will go starting this fall had their annual carnival, and we all went.  It was so much fun!  We had dinner, played games, rode ponies, jumped in bouncy houses, etc.

Mark had ridden a horse before, but this was our quints' first time on pony rides.

Meeting "HEB Buddy"  HEB is the grocery store where we usually shop, and they are awesome!  At the carnival they gave a free bike helmet to every child!  Especially good timing for us since we had gotten bikes earlier that same day.

They won tickets when they played various games and got to turn them in for prizes at the end.

The kids' preschool had their family night recently, and the kids got to ride horses again!

All the classes have had family picnics this month.  One of the class activities has been watching caterpillars turn into butterflies.  Some of the classes released the butterflies at their picnics.

We love picnics!  Daddy met us one day for a picnic lunch at the park.

Mark's class got to plant seed and watch them start to grow.  He brought his home last week.  Rather than put it in with our green beans, we decided to let him have his own little garden in a pot.  He planted a couple more seeds and has been watering his plant.
