Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!  I had my best Mother's Day ever this year!  The kids all made me cards and presents at school, but they couldn't wait until Sunday and were so excited to give me their things when I picked them up on Thursday.  This morning, the first thing the kids said was Happy Mother's Day without even needing Bill to remind them!  After church, we went out to lunch with my parents then came back to our house for ice cream and to give G.G. presents.

My mom is the most amazing woman I know, and I am so blessed to have her and that she lives so close!  We love you G.G.!!

The kids all made cards for G.G.  David is helping her read one.

The kids are always excited about presents, even if they aren't for them!  :)

At Easter, G.G. had a really good time with the boys' nerf guns, and I think her favorite present was her own nerf gun!

On Saturday, Bill and I will celebrate our 11th anniversary.  We agreed when we got married that we were not gifts people and didn't want to exchange gifts for any holidays.  (If you are familiar with "The Five Love Languages" we both literally scored a zero on gifts when we took the assessment.)  We go out to dinner for birthdays, buy something for the house (dishwasher, gutters, computer, etc.) for Christmas, and we try to take a trip for our anniversary.  While I realize that is unusual for most people, it has worked really well for us, and we are happy with that arrangement.  So, I was especially shocked that I received a gift from Bill today!

Surprise!

He got me an ipad!

We ended the day with dinner on the back deck and a family game of tball in the backyard.  (I use the word "game" very loosely!)  It has been a great Mother's Day with the most amazing husband, parents, and children I could possibly imagine!  Feeling even more blessed than usual!  :)

Swimming, End of Tball Season, and First Tooth Lost

A friend invited us over to her house to swim recently.

Ready to go!  Kate, Mark, Ali, David, Becca, John

She even had 5 sets of floaties blown up for us to use.  We had never used floaties before, but the kids liked them a lot!

The kids also enjoyed playing with their friends and bouncing on their trampoline.  They took a break for a watermellon snack.  Thank you, Kata, for having us!  We had a great time!  :)

Mark just finished his tball season.  He had fun playing, and his team this season really clicked well.  He had great coaches, and all the families were so involved cheering for the kids.  It was a great experience.

For our end of season party, we took baseball cupcakes for the team, and another mom provided snow cones.  The kids each got a trophy and one mom even made them a goodie bag.

Last week we had our regular check up at the dentist.  I took them by myself again, but this time was SOOO easy!  To my absolute shock, all six kids hopped right up on a table and not a single one cried or fussed!  I figured at least one would hesitate or cry or something.  Usually it is Kate, but she was even very comfortable.

Kate - Look how brave she was this time!

Mark had injured one of his top front teeth when he was around 15 months old.  The dentist said that the tooth had died, was getting infected and was loose and needed to come out.  He and I went back a few days later.  Mark was so brave!  He never flinched or cried at all!

First tooth gone!  119 more to lose in our house...

Mark's birthday party

On Sunday, we had Mark's 5th birthday party.  It was gorgeous weather, and I think everyone had a good time, but I KNOW Mark did!

Mark wanted a dinosaur party, so we decorated with dinos, he wore a dino shirt, we decorated dino cookies, colored dino coloring pages, and dug for dinos.  He had a blast celebrating with his friends.

Welcome to the party!

Digging for dinos was definitely a favorite activity!

Cookie decorating was still popular too.

Kate

Ali has a cookie hidden somewhere under that pile of sprinkles!

She did pick the color of sprinkles that matched her shirt and bows!  :)

Bill made a BBQ dinner for everyone.  It amazes me that he can cook that much food and pulls it off every party!

Happy birthday to you...

Mark loves ice cream, so we had ice cream with the cupcakes

This is the first time we have opened presents at the party.  At most of the parties we have been to, the kid has done that, and Mark really wanted to.  The other kids seemed really excited about it too.

Mark had this smile on his face pretty much the whole time

We are so blessed to have family and friends around us.

Uncle Mike, Grandma Helen, Papa, G.G., Aunt Janet, and Becca

Aunt Janet and Uncle Mike are Mark's godparents, and we love having them as a part of our lives!

We had a fantastic time!  I love birthday parties, and we are already looking forward to the next one in October!  :)
